Founded in 1945, Barfield has six facilities located near airports in Miami (MIA), Phoenix (PHX), Louisville (SDF), Atlanta (ATL), Doral 1 (MIA) and Doral 2 (MIA), to satisfy the needs of customers operating commercial or regional aircraft in North, Central and South America. Barfield is part of the Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) network, a major MRO provider. With a workforce of 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers technical support for airlines, ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and repair and supply of components.

Position: Technician I -Drone(UAV Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Pilot

Department: Shop 3

Report to: Shop 3 Operations/Production and Drone Pilot Team Lead

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Shop Technician position requires to Test, Repair &Overhaul aircraft components using FAA approved data
• The Drone or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) missions consist in Demos, Training or Flight sessions to prospects or to customers for Inspection, Surveillance or Mapping of specific areas. The missions will require travelling within North, Central and South America usually between 1 day and 1 week at a time.
• The drones to be operated are category 1 and 2 Drones , ultra light fixed wings or quadricopters.
• This position requires to split time between the shop and drone offsite mission.
• Reports to the Shop Lead Technician, or Shop Manager and Drone Piot Team Lead

Required Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:

• Required High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Technical college, or Military training is a plus.
• Must possess the ability to follow written instructions approved by the FAA/ OEM/ Airline EO, data for maintenance.
• Must be willing to learn new skills to advance within the company.
• Must be willing to follow company policies and procedures.
• Has ability to learn use of Multi-meters, Hi Pot Testers, Bonding Testers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, Torque Wrenches, Calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Must have knowledge of basic test equipment for the position.
• Must be adaptive and willing to engage new concepts, processes, and technical capabilities .
• Dexterity with hand tools.
• Understand the use of basic test equipment.
• Read, write, understand, and communicate in English and knowledge of basic math.
• FAA drone part 107 certification preferred, will receive training on UAS supported by Barfield.
• A&P certification a plus.
• Drone flying experience preferred (more than 20 hours)
• Ability to travel across the Americas up to 50% of the time over a year.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
